This year Valentine’s Day falls on that most sanctified day of the week: Sunday Funday. As such, it’s a veritable marathon of prix fixe meals and events throughout the weekend. With so much to choose from, we’ve picked our five favorite foodie events on the island. There is something for every mood, for every relationship status update. Whether you’ve put a ring on it, it’s complicated, or you just met Saturday night, we’ve got you covered, Boo.

Steeped in history, Hotel El Convento evokes classic Old World charm. Chef Luis Castillo has channeled this vibe into his stellar six-course prix fixe meal, featuring lobster and mixed seafood bouillabaisse, filet mignon, and chocolate mousse. Special touches such as, vanilla confit beets or white bean and truffle puree, scream luxe decadence with a fresh twist. Live music played in the open-air, Spanish colonial courtyard will make it more romantic than cupid in a diaper. $85 per person plus tax and gratuity from 6pm – 10 pm.
- Brunching at Mist Ultra Lounge
This is the spot for serious brunch lovers. Brunchers who may or may not love each other, but are firmly committed to making it work for the sake of the brunch. From a beautiful perch atop the San Juan Water Beach Club Hotel, you can enjoy panoramic ocean vistas with your Bloody Mary and the BAE. Starting at 11am until 3pm, Chef Raul Correa will offer a five-course prix fixe menu served family-style. Highlights include a Boursin Lobster Omlette, Longaniza Carbonara, and a Mallorca Waffle with Bacon Jam. $32 per person plus tax and gratuity with complimentary valet parking. Chef Correa will also be offering a special prix fixe 6-course menu on Saturday and Sunday night form 6 pm to 10:30 pm in Zest, the hotel’s main restaurant. $85 per person plus tax and gratuity.
- Getaway to Royal Isabela
Need to getaway to get things going? Royal Isabela Resort is acclaimed for its spectacular golf course and for the tremendous talent of locavore loving Chef Jose Carles. This year he will prepare a four-course Valentine’s Dinner offered on Saturday and Sunday from 6pm. Take your eyes off of your lover just long enough to catch a glimpse of the humpback whales breaching in front of the property. That’s not a euphemism for anything – there are actual whales. $159 per couple plus tax and gratuity.
- Cooking Class Atelier de Cocina Abierta
The newly opened Atelier de Cocina Abierta school for culinary enthusiasts, will host a number of sensuous courses throughout the weekend. On Friday, February 12, Chef Martin Louzao will lead, ‘Five Stories – Five Senses, A Culinary Vaudeville,’ as part of the Atelier’s new Tasting Table series. For a more hands-on experience, Chef Melissa Montañez will be instructing lovers on how to cook a romantic brunch, including Brioche French Toast.
- Foodies Food Truck Fest at St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort
Recently named one of the ‘Top 10 Best Hotels in the Caribbean 2016 by U.S. News & World Report, the St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort is one of the most beautiful properties on the island. It will play host to another installment of one of our favorite food events, the FUDIS Food Truck Fest Series. Small bites in wide open spaces for those of you who have trouble committing and need somewhere to run and hide.
